The Persian Boy is part of Mary Renault's Alexander trilogy, but it is also simply a wonderful book on its own. If, like me, you enjoy reading the story of the Persian eunuch Bagoas, whose fate becomes entwined with that of the 'barbarian' Alexander, time and again, then you might want to join after reading the few simple rules.
